Through partnerships with fellow organizations like America Reads and Counts, UCSB, and Foodbank Santa Barbara County we provide unique and tailored program to foster learning for every child.
Through a partnership with Isla Vista Music Teachers (IVMT) our Expanded Learning After School Programs offer music lessons to our students free of charge. Teachers are available to work one on one with students to teach a variety of instruments including violin, ukulele, saxophone, guitar, bass, and vocal lessons. Children who learn a musical instrument not only learn a skill but increase reading com-prehension, memory, and even improve math skills.
Through a partnership with Food Bank Santa Barbara County to provide a Kids’ Farmers Market to our After School students. Each month kids learn about a different healthy food and create a recipe using the ingredient. Each student also goes home with a box of fresh fruit and veggies to share with their family.
Undergraduate UCSB students lead our Kindergartners in lessons and activities to teach them about world art history. Throughout the school year the students create all forms of art from indigenous cave paintings to renaissance triptychs the children experience cultures from around the world through their art.
